New Orleans - Halloween in the Big Easy Coming up
http://www.theoaklandpress.com/general-news/20120410/new-orleans-both-fun-and-informative-with-video
Many of the buildings are the same architecture that have stood since the early origins of the city. The 18th and 19th century designs are held on to and taken care of by homeowners and entrepreneurs alike, which provides for commerce and kind regards by tourists.
The European influence in the urban layout of the French Quarter allows visitors to slightly close their eyes and imagine themselves in Spain, France or even Germany. The galleries, made up of narrow balconies and railings outside of the retail markets, spread from block to block alongside brick and stone slab sidewalks. Jackson Square lays grounds before the famous St. Louis Cathedral and pays homage to the seventh president of the United States of America -- President Andrew Jackson.
The square was designed in style of the 17th Century Place des Vosges in Paris, France. Nearby, the square is the Café Du Monde, known for their sugar coated Beignet pastry and café au lait (coffee with milk). Lining the square are soliciting horse and carriages, caricature artists and strolling tour promoters for such haunted walking excursions provided by Witches Brew Tours.
Not to forget, much of New Orleans' street culture provides a celebrated peering into a city that is alive with both music and film. Louisiana is also known for its current film incentive program which offers a 30 percent rebate on certified expenditures. Similar to Michigan's incentive program, it wouldn't be out of place to notice a location of many films like "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "Interview with a Vampire," "JFK" or "Point of No Return." It also wouldn't be out of place to notice film crews taking to the streets.
Besides the filmmaking industry, New Orleans also has a film experience that is exclusive to the city, as it is a part of The National World War II Museum. Tom Hanks' "Beyond All Boundaries" not only features voice over narrations from actors such as Brad Pitt and Elijah Wood but the auditorium it screens in is built with physical structures, props and vibrating seats that accentuate the viewing experience in a theatrical way.

Detroit auto show’s Charity Preview raises over $4.5 million for children
Metro Detroit’s unofficially recognized Prom Night has always been the Charity Preview at the North American International Auto Show.
2014’s ornamented event raised more than its goal of $4.5 million for children’s charities; ticket prices were up $50 from last year to $350, $340 of which is tax deductible.
This year’s auto show also hosted multiple crowned prom kings and queens. The first was the residents of the metropolitan area themselves, who not only assist in the engineering of our nationwide motion but also traipsed through the cold weather and navigated complex parking to accompany visitors from around the globe in our celebratory affair. Undoubtedly the runners up would be a blend of the fruit of our labors with both Detroit Muscle and Motown Class.
The 2015 Ford Mustang that co-stars in the upcoming DreamWorks movie “Need For Speed” joins a lineage of over 3,000 cinematic appearances of the Mustang. Next up is Chevrolet’s own movie star, the much requested 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, based on the model from the “Transformers” series.
The #1 selling automobile in North America, the Ford F-150 also dressed its best, spotted in a silver tuxedo from last year’s concept truck, the Ford Atlas. Fans of the F-150 will be able to sport greater gas mileage as the vehicle has now upgraded to a sporty aluminum coat and tie while still holding strength in a powerhouse physique and excellent ergonomics.
If there is one thing that the Charity Preview attendees were “oohing” and “ahhing” about, it’s the fact that the future is arriving.
Majority shareholders of both domestic and international auto companies are tasked to inquire about solar energy as opposed to just a marriage with chargeable battery power and gasoline powered vehicles: Detroit’s own C-Max Solar Energi concept car is light years ahead from the age old image of photovoltaic cells being slapped onto a race car and finally brings the dream closer to consumer tangible.
The auto show was so successful this year with celebrity appearances that not only singer Sheryl Crow decided to show but also Vice President Joe Biden as well during the Industry Preview and was given a tour of what the Detroit Three had to offer, walking and talking with Ford Motor Company Chairman Bill Ford, Chrysler’s Sergio Marchionne and newly minted GM CEO Mary Barra.
Those who missed the industry and charity previews don’t have to wait to see the luminary pride of metro-Detroit as the auto show is officially open to the public through Jan. 26. Tickets are $13 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and children between 7-12 years old; and free for children 6 and under.

Real Detroit gave us a great Review

Approaching Midnight
by Jesse Crawfis
Approaching Midnight, which just held its World Premiere at the Emagine Royal Oak as a charity benefit for the American Legion is a spellbinding character drama pushed forward with effective and calculated action. Brilliant direction, musical score and cinematography are woven into one amazing film from Detroit native,Emmy nominee Sam Logan Khaleghi.
In the film, Khaleghi plays Staff Sergeant Wesley Kent, an endearing, quiet character who still shows great strength in a very silent James Bond/Bruce Wayne like way. Jana Kramer plays Aspen Malverne, an elegant first love from Kent’s past. The film opens in a smart and intelligently written flashback sequence where Khaleghi’s shares screen time with co-star Jana Kramer (2012 Academy of Country Music Award Nominee who is currently on tour with Blake Shelton).
Kramer’s performance alongside Khaleghi is the perfect blend of Nicholas Sparks-like romance, which should keep her country music fans satisfied. Jana Kramer makes her reel in Approaching Midnight and it is to the credit of Sam Logan Khaleghi’s superior directing. Not to forget mentioning, in a behind the scenes video Kramer mentions herself that Khaleghi is the best director she’s ever worked with.
After the flashback sequence, stylized editing transitions us to Walter Reed Hospital where Kent’s character awakes and is treated for injuries sustained in during a battle in Afghanistan. His memories of being in the field take us to a well crafted, pulse pounding, exciting action sequence that is filled with everything and action sequence should have: gunfire and fast trucks alongside excellent character development and sharp dialogue.
